Lady of Llyn y Fan Fach

The Lady of Llyn y Fan Fach, also known as the Lady of the Lake, is a supernatural figure of incredible beauty who emerges from the water to enter the human world. She agrees to marry a mortal man, but only on her own terms. Their marriage is built on a single condition: if he strikes her three times, she will leave him forever.

Once she begins her life as bride, her marriage is tested by the slow erosion of trust rather than a single conflict. Over time, her husband strikes her three times not necessarily out of malice, but often due to misunderstandings or impatience. With each "strike," the magical bond weakens. When the third strike occurs, the Lady does not negotiate or offer forgiveness. She immediately reclaims her independence and returns to the lake. Her departure is a powerful act of self-preservation; she belongs to the water, and when the human world fails to respect her boundaries, she goes back to where she began.

Her departure is a tragedy for her husband, but she leaves behind a legacy through her sons, passing on her supernatural knowledge of healing and medicine. The story explores the difficulty of "belonging." Ultimately, it is a story about the inevitability of separation when two different worlds try to become one.
